February Fashion Week and a London Hotel

Clothes On a RackThe fashion capital of the UK is once again playing host to one of the most anticipated events on every fashionistas calendar. This February London Fashion Week is coming to town and bringing with it the hottest trends for AW14. Somerset House is the main fashion hub for all the catwalk shows but the entire city will be wrapped in a stylish buzz, so whether you’re catching a show, indulging in retail therapy or staying in a hotel to create a fashion fuelled week, it really is the fashion hotspot for February.

Fashion isn’t just about the latest trends, it’s also about the lifestyle that goes with it. We’ve highlighted some key places to visit whilst fashion week commences. Head for afternoon tea, stay in a city hotel, visit an arts event, sip cocktails or simply spoil yourself with some fashion hunting. The possibilities are endless.

Covent Garden

Close to the cobbles of Somerset House is the renowned shopping hub that is Covent Garden. A place filled with a fine mixture of high street and unique boutiques, there are hundreds of exciting retail venues, but you’ll also find plenty of delicious places for lunch time treats, coffee stops and cheeky cocktails. There are many places in London to sample tasty cakes, coffees and afternoon teas, but nowhere does it quite like the BB Bakery in Covent Garden. Amongst the hustle and bustle sits this fashionable little bakery that oozes Parisian charm and is the perfect location for the ultimate afternoon pit stop.

Chelsea

Are you a fan of Made In Chelsea and the exciting places they visit? Well, if you’re in the know you could actually go shopping, eating and drinking in some of the key locations featured on the show. Why not visit the Phene for a glass of wine, trot along the King’s Road to the Bluebird for some delicious food or visit Bliss, Chelsea’s top day spa, for the ultimate indulgence? Close by to Chelsea is the Victoria & Albert Museum where, during fashion week, you can catch their Club To Catwalk exhibition, giving you a look at the evolving key trends from the 1980’s. After all the other activities you may be exhausted, but when visiting Chelsea it’s a must that you spoil yourself browsing all the designer shops around Sloane Square, it would be a fashion crime not to!

Oxford Street

When thinking of London fashion it’s hard not to consider Oxford Street and one of the main department stores – Selfridges. The shopping haven founded in 1909 has recently hit the media due to the popular TV drama Mr Selfridge, it’s hard to avoid the beautiful contents and the amazing impact the store has upon London, making it a shopping trip must see. There are hundreds of other great shops nearby too, but if you’re all shopped out, why not catch one of London’s famous West End musicals at a top theatre? There are numerous to choose from but for a fashionistas treat why not head along to see We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre and get some rock style inspiration!

The beauty of fashion is that it never stops growing, but there are very few times we can stop and appreciate it. London Fashion Week is the perfect opportunity to do just that. Our Covent Garden Hotel on Drury Lane is a stones throw away from the fashion action,so why not visit London during this chic week and shop, look and visit all you can, because when fashion week hits London, London creates the style to go with it. It shouldn’t be missed.
