As the excitement of Wimbledon fades into the past, the summer sporting season is coming to a close. But that just means it’s time for a new sport season to begin, and now is a better time than ever to get tickets to one of the big games coming up. Here are some events not to miss this September:
The Premier League
September will begin with a bang as Saturday 1st promises to be an epic day of football. Liverpool will face Man United on the same day that Arsenal will face Tottenham, so there’s no excuse not to be watching the football. If you can do it from the stadium, all the better. Why not stay in one of our Liverpool hotels to get caught up in the atmosphere there, or spend the weekend in London to be part of the crowds around the Emirates Stadium?
The Great River Race
For something a bit different, why not make your way to the capital for the most inclusive rowing race of the year? Stay in one of our London hotels in order to watch hundreds of boats of all shapes and sizes race down the Thames in London’s “River Marathon”. Competitors include Viking long boats, Chinese dragon boats, Irish curraghs, traditional Thames Watermen and more conventional rowing boats, rowed by serious racing crews, charity racers or just members of the public, so you can even get involved if you have a competitive streak.
England vs. Moldova Football
The World Cup is soon to be getting under way, and England have two qualifying matches to play in September. See them face Moldova at Wembley on 6th September for your chance to be a part of the start of the new season.
Anyone who loves cars will love the world’s most popular historic motor race meeting at Goodwood between 13th and 15th September. The event attracts anyone who’s anyone in the motor racing world, including Sir Stirling Moss, Richard Attwood, John Surtees and Derek Bell, and the classic racing will have you forgetting all about the modern world. Stay in our Chichester Central hotel to be less than three miles from the track.
England vs. Australia Cricket
The cricket is not over yet, and England will face Australia again in September in the Natwest ODI. If you’re looking for an excuse to head down to the south coast and enjoy the last of the summer weather, this just might be it, as the old rivals will be facing each other at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. Stay in our Southampton hotel to enjoy the cricket and the seaside.
Ayr Gold Cup Festival
If you’re wishing you were back at Ascot, it’s time for a trip up to Scotland. The Ayr Gold Cup is Scotland’s highlight of the flat-racing calendar, and a cracking social event too. Book a room in our Ayr hotel to be there for the thrilling betting, the beautiful horses, and the glamorous schmoozing.
