It’s fast approaching the spookiest time of the year and despite the fact that scary stuff makes us want to run away screaming, being frightened can actually be a hell of a lot of fun!
Halloween is a great time of year to let loose and have a bit of fun, so whether you want to enjoy some spooky family days out or want a few genuine adult-suitable scares, there are plenty of events around Britain that will help you to get your fear fix.
If you’re crazy for clowns, think ghosts are great or want to welcome some walkers, here are three of the spookiest days out on offer this Halloween:
Laugh and scream at York Dungeon
Often fear and fun go hand in hand and nowhere is this more apparent than in the depths of York Dungeons.
Recently refurbished, the York Dungeon features scripts from comedian Tim Vine (so the shows are scarily funny) and 11 brilliant shows featuring plenty of gore, scares and jumpy bits.
York itself has plenty of gruesome history to get through in 70 minutes so expect a non-stop thrill ride full of things to assault all the senses (and we mean ALL of them.)
However, when York isn’t being a tableau of fear-inducing fun, it’s a great city to explore. Why not stay in one of our York hotels and make a weekend of it? You might need some time to recover!
Ghostly goings on at Blickling Hall, Norfolk
A Jacobean house that stands on the ruins of a former medieval manor (which already sounds like the perfect start to a haunted house story) in which a young Anne Boleyn used to call home, is the scene that awaits you at Blickling Hall.
It’s thought that Boleyn’s ghost roams the manor in the form of the Grey Lady, scaring those who dare to walk the grounds and corridors of what is a stunning stately home.
If one ghost wasn’t enough, former residents Sir Henry Hobart and Sir John Falstofe are also said to haunt the building. It’s said that the former’s dying groans are often heard from the West Turret Bedroom.
If you fancy somewhere a little less haunted in order to enjoy your time exploring Blickling Hall, why not try one of our Norfolk hotels?
Run for your life in London
2.8 Hours Later is a scary event with a twist – not only are you dumped in the middle of London during a zombie outbreak, it’s your job to get out of there and meet up with fellow survivors.
A genuinely terrifying night out, this brilliant event includes scares aplenty plus a bit of exercise. Once you’ve managed to reach the ‘Asylum’ where you can finally relax, there’s even a Zombie Disco and bar (we imagine you’ll deserve a drink after that!)
Crash out at one of our London hotels after the thrill to recover from your very own zombie apocalypse and rest those aching limbs (which are lucky to still be intact!)
