CHAIRMAN OF SOUTH LAKELAND DISTRICT COUNCIL AND LOCAL SCHOOL GIRL OFFICIALLY OPEN NEW £1.7 MILLION TRAVELODGE HOTEL IN KENDAL

Today, Chairman of South Lakeland District Council, Councillor Ian Stewart and local school girl, Heather Ramsay officially opened Kendal Travelodge - the first branded budget hotel to open in the town.
Kendal Travelodge is a £1.7 million investment for the town and was built in a record time to ensure it was ready to open for Christmas. The 43-room hotel has created 20 new jobs within the community and will offer rooms from £15*. Situated on the main road into Kendal (A591) at Helsington, Kendal, LA8 8AA, the new Travelodge is ideally located for the business and leisure traveller.
To celebrate the official opening of Kendal Travelodge, VIP pupils from St. Marks Primary School were set a project of drawing their "Dream bedroom". The Chairman of South Lakeland District Council, Councillor Ian Stewart selected the winning picture, which was drawn by Heather Ramsay aged 10 years.
Heather won a weekend stay at a UK Travelodge hotel of her choice for her family and her picture will be hung in the hotel reception area. All participating children were awarded a goodie bag.

This new hotel will fill a real local need for budget accommodation and I am thrilled that it has created so many new jobs. I wish them the very best for the future."

Kendal Travelodge will offer a choice of either Family, Double or Disabled access rooms. Each room provides a comfortable setting with en-suite bathroom luxury king size bed colour TV and free tea and coffee making facilities.
The hotel has been built using locally sourced; Natural Lakeland Stone to ensure it is in keeping with its rural surroundings. Local contractors and manufacturers were used to build the hotel to integrate Kendal Travelodge into the community.
In the lead-up to Christmas, Travelodge is opening 17 new hotels across the UK. Locations include: Peterborough, Caterham, Romford, Barnstaple, Stansted, Ludlow, Hatfield, Kendal, Birmingham Maypole, Ayr, Manchester Trafford Park, Hereford, Croydon, Watford, Birmingham (Five Ways) and Sheffield (city centre). Over 400 new jobs will be created as a result of these new hotel openings.
