LOCAL SCHOOL GIRL AND THE LORD MAYOR OF CAERPHILLY, COUNCILLOR ALLEN WILLIAMS OFFICIALLY OPEN NEW 2M TRAVELODGE IN CAERPHILLY

Today, local school girl, Lucy John and the Lord Mayor of Caerphilly, Councillor Allen Williams officially open Caerphilly Travelodge. The 51-room hotel represents a 2 million investment in the town, creating 15 new jobs. Situated at Castlegate, Nantgarw, Caerphilly, CF83 1SN the new Travelodge will offer rooms from 19 per night.

To celebrate the official opening of the hotel, pupils from Hendredenny Park Primary School were set a project of drawing their "dream bedroom". The Lord Mayor of Caerphilly, Councillor Allen Williams selected the winning picture, drawn by Lucy aged 10 years.

Lucy also won a weekend stay at any UK Travelodge hotel of her choice for her family and her picture will be hung in the hotel reception area. All pupils were also awarded a festive selection box.

Vanessa O'Hara, Caerphilly Travelodge's Hotel Manager said: "There is a desperate need for low-cost accommodation in Caerphilly and our new hotel will help to meet this demand. We sell rooms from as little as 19 per night and our location is perfect whether meeting on business or on a leisure trip with friends."

The hotel will offer a choice of either family, double or disabled rooms, each providing an en-suite bathroom, luxury king size bed, digital flat screen TV, Wi-Fi and free tea and coffee making facilities. The best deals can be found via travelodge.co.uk.

About Travelodge
The first budget hotel brand to launch in the UK in 1985, Travelodge now operates 330 hotels (over 20,000 rooms) - nine in Ireland, three in Spain and the rest in the UK. Travelodge plans to grow its estate to 70,000 rooms (approximately 1000 hotels) by 2020 and aims to be the biggest operator in London by the 2012 Olympics with over 7,000 rooms in the capital.

Six and a half million people stayed with Travelodge last year and 83% of reservations are currently made online at travelodge.co.uk, where room rates start at 19 a night. The chain employs 5,000 staff and is owned by Dubai International Capital, who acquired the organisation from Permira in 2006. In April 2007, Travelodge announced the first stage of a new online retail strategy when it became the first UK hotel company to launch a Travel Insurance product.
