Birmingham is home to four Michelin starred restaurants including Adam’s. Adam’s has only been open for a year and has already been awarded thee AA rosettes on top of its star. Previously a small sandwich shop, this intimate fine dining experience is run by husband and wife, Adam and Natasha Stokes. The three course lunch menu is only Ā£35 and a Ā£50, five course tasting menu is available for lunch and dinner during the week. Dishes include asparagus with roasted lobster and a dark chocolate, earl grey and malted barley dessert.

2. Buonissimo’s

Buonissimo’s is an Italian restaurant serving fresh Mediterranean food, using organic and free-range produce. Everyone loves Italian food, so this one is a good pick if you’re travelling with fussy eaters. Specialities include the delicious selection of bruschetta, fresh pasta, including ravioli with ricotta and truffles and the pan fried fillet steak with Gorgonzola. The desserts are to die for and if you have a hard time choosing then the Misto de paccini is a moth watering selection of six desserts for two to share.

3. The Warehouse Cafe

Budget eaters and lovers of vegetarian food should head to The Warehouse CafĆ©. Located in The Friend`s of the Earth building, this award-winning restaurant has been running for 30 years. The relaxed destination serves food until 8.30pm and is BYO, always a good option for those of us who want to enjoy a tipple without breaking the bank. Delicious dishes include “fish” and chips, which is a battered halloumi served with pea purĆ©e, wedges and grilled tomato and vegan chocolate brownie and ice cream.

4. Opus

Opus is a good value, high quality and award-winning modern restaurant in the heart of Birmingham. Celebrating brilliant, market fresh ingredients, Opus` menu changes with the seasons to showcase its produce. The daily Market Menu is a great deal, serving two courses for Ā£14 and Ā£16 for three. Highlights on the a la carte menu include roasted loin of Highland venison with fig tatin, potato fondant, parsnip purĆ©e and an iced plum and cinnamon parfait with poached plum and almond brandy snap.
