Evolving Cities – The results of our Beatles poll and competition

Our Evolving Cities competition gave you the chance to celebrate Liverpool’s unique cultural history by voting for your all-time favourite song from the city’s most famous sons, The Beatles.

We know it’s extremely difficult to pick a favourite Beatles song, so we narrowed it down to ten for you. The results from the vote show exactly how tricky it was to choose, with support for all ten songs in the running. In the end, maybe it was the wintry weather and longing for the summer months that influenced you, but ‘Here Comes The Sun’ just edged it over ‘Let It Be’ and ‘Hey Jude’. ‘Yesterday’ followed in fourth place, showing that the general consensus sways towards wistful, latter-day Beatles. And even though Paul gets three of the top four, George wrote the most popular song.

Here’s the full list:

1. ‘Here Comes The Sun’ – 20%
2. ‘Hey Jude’ – 18%
3. ‘Let It Be’ – 17%
4. ‘Yesterday’ – 13%
5. ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’ – 12%
6. ‘She Loves You’ – 5%
