The UK’s Best Bonfire Night Celebrations

Remember, remember, the fifth of November… It’s coming up to that time of the year when we celebrate the failure of Guy Fawkes’ plot to blow up parliament by re-enacting the explosions that might have happened if it had been a success. All over the country people will be building Guy Fawkes dummies and giant bonfires to burn them on. If you’re looking for something a bit more spectacular than your local village festivities, there are plenty of big celebrations happening on the first weekend in November. Here are a few of them:

Alexandra Palace

“Ally Pally”, as this venue is affectionately known, will be celebrating with a huge fireworks display for Guy Fawkes Night. It’s promised to “bigger and brighter than ever with an epic laser show” so this may be the place to be in the capital on Fireworks weekend.
As well as the return of the UK’s largest German Bier festival, there’s a Mexican Day of the Dead parade, ice Skating and much more to keep the whole family entertained. Stay in our London hotels near Alexandra Palace to be just 3 miles from the palace for the 4nd & 5th November celebrations.

Sparks in the Park, Cardiff

If you want to celebrate Bonfire Night with young children but you’re worried about them being scared by deafening fireworks the event at Cooper’s Field, Cardiff is the perfect solution. Billed as Wales’ Biggest Annual Fireworks Display, the Cardiff Roundtable will be putting up a family friendly fireworks show on the 5th November before the main display. Stay in one of our Cardiff hotels to treat the family to a great evening out.

Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens

This free event returns on 29th October 2016 at 7pm and this year’s show is titled The Music of Orpheus and the Jealousy of the Gods. Music, dancers, fire performers, poets and fireworks combine to tell the story of ancient Greece with the second half of the evening being a mind-blowing Fire Cabaret.  All this takes place in front of the famous Vauxhall Bonfire.  The event was Time Out London’s number one thing to do on Halloween in 2014 and 2015. Book a room in our London Vauxhall hotel to be right in the thick of it.

Legoland

If you haven’t taken the family to Legoland yet or perhaps you just haven’t been recently, there’s no better time to go than on the 15th, 22nd, 23rd, 28th, 29th October and 5th November. The fireworks won’t just be impressive – they’ll also be super hero themed, with the LEGO® NEXO KNIGHTS  battling the evil Jestro through a stunning lights display! Our Windsor Central hotel is just a few miles down the road, so why not make a family holiday out of it?

Glasgow Green

Scotland’s largest (and free) fireworks display is a great place to head for Guy Fawkes Night celebrations. Glasgow Green will be taken over by a funfair, food stalls, and lots of entertainment on the 5th November. Then, at 7.30pm, you can look forward to a stunning 30-minute firework show set to music from bands and an accompanying laser display. Why not stay in our Glasgow Central hotel to be a part of it?
