Spring is slowly springing, which means it’s time to get back outside. April may be famous for showers, but it’s also the month of Easter egg hunts and daffodil walks and the perfect time for exploring one of the UK’s greatest treasures – the countryside. Nature is the best playground for kids, and if you’re looking for ways to keep them entertained this April, here are some great events going on around the UK to get you and them outside and enjoying the fresh air.
1. St. George’s Day
Birmingham will be full of English pride around St. George’s Day. The city celebrates the patron saint of England with a family festival, and a big celebration concert. Events include an English food and drink market, children’s rides, face-painting, a petting zoo, kids’ workshops and much much more. Book a room in our Birmingham Central hotel to hear all about the famous story of George and the dragon.
2. Eggciting Easter Eggstravaganza
There will be lots of Easter events going on all over the country this month, but not many of them will have two egg-themed puns in their title. This Nottingham based event promises to be lots of fun for the whole family, especially given its setting at the beautiful Green’s Mill and Science Centre. Bring the kids for the chance to participate in the great Easter egg hunt, and for an afternoon out in nature. Our Nottingham Central hotel is conveniently located nearby.
3. 50 Whipple-Scrumptious years of Charlie and Willy Wonka at Kew Gardens
Charlie and The Chocolate Factory is one of those stories that captivates almost any child who reads it or listens to it. 50 years after its creation, it’s still as popular as ever and Kew Gardens is paying tribute to its success with a series of special workshops and activities relating to all things Willy Wonka. Stay in our London Kew Bridge hotel to take the family on adventures in the gardens and have a sleep filled with dreams of chocolate.
4. RSPB Children’s Wildlife Photography Workshop
With technology getting easier and easier to use, kids are getting into photography younger than ever before. Combine taking pictures with hunting for rare species of birds, and you’ve got an activity that captures the imagination of many children. The RSPB, keen to encourage the next generation of bird enthusiasts, are running kids’ photography workshops on Mondays in April in Glasgow. If your children are artistic, or enthusiastic animal spotters, you can bet they’ll love this opportunity to learn from the experts. Head up north, stay in one of our Glasgow hotels and encourage your child’s passion, all while getting out in the fresh air.
