Blackpool is actually packed with off-peak-season surprises – there’s much more to do here than water slides on your family weekend break.

With plenty of wallet-friendly restaurants and attractions, and some beautiful scenery too, Blackpool has everything you need for a great trip any time of the year. And it needn’t break the bank either.

Our Travelodge hotels in Blackpool are perfect for families or groups, offering comfortable beds and locations in the heart of the city for less than you might expect.

Here are some of the best activities if you want to enjoy Blackpool on a budget:

1. Stanley Park

With a special children’s area and stretches of beautiful outdoor space, the 390-acre Stanley Park is the perfect place for a picnic or a long walk with the little ones. The landscaping of this park is widely respected and it’s even been Grade II-listed on the National Register of Historical Parks and Gardens. Take a football and a Frisbee and enjoy hours of fun or take to the water by hiring a boat on the lake.

2. Singleton Maize Maze

Throughout autumn, the Singleton Maize Maze entertains children and adults alike with a fun themed maze cut into the corn crops. This year you can spot dinosaurs amid the trails. For more action, visit the large indoor and outdoor play areas for plenty of family-friendly activities like trampolines, netball and sand pits. The maze costs just £7 for adults and £5 for children.

3. The promenade and the piers

Probably one of the most famous icons in Blackpool, the promenade is a long path running along the edge of the sea and is the centre of tourist activity. Hire a bike from one of the on-street hubs (you’ll need to register online first). Or wander the route on foot to enjoy the seaside atmosphere. Make a stop to visit any one of the three piers that offer rides, bars and traditional seaside games and confectioneries.

You can also take in the Comedy Carpet, a new addition to the promenade. It’s a free attraction and public art piece where the floor tiles display some of the nation’s favourite jokes and catchphrases.

Rest your weary legs with a room at our Travelodge Blackpool South Pier, just moments from the promenade.

4. Kids eat free at Toast Café

Every Sunday to Thursday from 3pm-6pm your kids can eat for free when you purchase a full-priced adult meal. Toast is an easygoing family restaurant that serves mouth-watering grills using locally sourced produce. The décor is modern and comfortable and the portions are generous. Print off your voucher for a free kid’s meal here.
