Blackpool has everything you want from a traditional seaside holiday, plus modern family attractions to please the new generation. Stay in a Blackpool Travelodge hotel, whether it’s a short weekend getaway or a longer family holiday, and you’ll get even more value from your break.

Now, if it’s thrills, sun and ice cream you’re after, here are the attractions you just can’t miss :

1. The Pleasure Beach

The Pleasure Beach is, perhaps, Blackpool’s most loved destination and one of the UK’s favourite theme parks.

Breathtaking rides include Avalanche, where you become part of a bobsled team, and The Big One, which is the UK’s tallest and fastest roller coaster. The ride reaches an impressive 235ft and a speed of 85mph, so be prepared to let out a few screams! For a bit of a different experience you can also climb to the top of The Big One on select dates.

The Pleasure Beach is even better value for money if you book online, with wristbands starting at £20.00 for an adult and £18.00 for a junior in peak season if you book 10 days in advance. You’ll pay an extra £10 if you buy tickets at the gate.

And remember that Pleasure Beach tickets can get you into more Blackpool attractions…

2. Nickelodeon Land

Little thrill seekers will want to head to Nickelodeon Land, which features 12 fantastic rides for children and adults, and a good programme of special events.

Nickelodeon Land sees the kids’ favourite characters come alive with rides such as Dora’s World Voyage, a quick way to explore many countries of the world, and Rugrats Lost River. Join Chuckie, Tommy and Angelica on an exciting flume ride to The Temple of The Spoon.

Entry to Nickelodeon Land is included with your Pleasure Beach Pass and at peak times the park stays open to 20.00.

3. Sandcastle Waterpark

Sandcastle Waterpark is the UK’s largest indoor tropical waterpark, with more than 18 slides and attractions including fun pools, water chutes, wave machines and arcades. Phew.

Favourite attractions include the Master Blaster, which is Britain’s longest indoor roller coaster waterslide, Montazooma and Aztec Falls. These rides are in the Hyperzone (ages +8), so you’ll need to pay an extra £6.25 for access.

Hungry thrill seekers should make a visit to Bongo Bongo Burger Shack, which serves a variety of hot food including jacket potatoes and burgers. Forgot the towels or didn’t have space to pack them? Pick some up at the Treetops Trading Post.

And if you’ve had enough thrill seeking for one day, upgrade your pass for £3.25-£6.25 and head to the Seabreeze Spa for a spot of pampering in the sauna, steam room or aromatherapy room. Just be aware that the spa’s only for +18s.

Sandcastle tickets cost as little as £15.25 for an adult, £12.25 for juniors when you book online (thanks to a 10% discount).

And the waterpark’s conveniently located next to our South Promenade Travelodge. So your thrill-seeking limbs don’t have to travel far to get home!
