All you need to know about Cheltenham Festival

Cheltenham Festival is the biggest event in horse race-jumping. The ultimate destination for the adrenaline-addict or the horse enthusiast, it’s also just a great few days out for anyone who likes a bit of a party. Held each year around St. Patrick’s Day, many Irish people leave the home of the holiday’s celebrations to be part of the goings-on in Cheltenham. If you’ve always wanted to go, then gather a group of friends, book a room in our Cheltenham hotel, and prepare for a few days you won’t forget. There’s something for everyone, and here’s how to make the most of your visit:

For the partyer

Thursday 14th March is the festival’s celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, and it promises to be wild. There’ll be Irish dancing, plenty of Guinness, and all sorts of Irish dining and hospitality deals. There’s even a special St. Patrick’s Day charity race in aid of Cancer Research UK, so you can splash your cash and feel good about doing it. Besides, the Irish are supposed to be lucky, so it’s definitely the day to place your bets. And in case the races don’t go your way, there’s live music and a massive party in the evening to guarantee you have a cracking day.

For the sports fan

Cheltenham Gold Cup Day, on Friday 15th March, is the peak of the sporting events. The highlight of the horse-jumping season, the day includes seven races, the biggest of which will win its championship the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup, made with 10 ounces of solid gold. If you’re a racing connoisseur, this is the day to see the best talent the industry has to offer. And if you’re a betting expert, now’s the chance to win it big.

For the socialite

Lady’s Day, on Wednesday 13th March is the day to see the best of British fashion, and to be seen in the best of British fashion. Scouts wander the crowds, looking for someone to catch on camera, and to award one of the coveted fashion awards to. You’ll need a spectacular hat and a fabulously put together outfit to keep up with the competition, but if you love an opportunity to get all dressed up, this is the day for you. And while the day may be all about pampering the ladies, that doesn’t mean men aren’t welcome. What man wouldn’t want to be surrounded by a bevy of women looking their best?

For the luxury lover

Cheltenham festival offers all sorts of special packages for those who fancy making a big do of the event. Whether you’re buying for yourself, or treating a friend, have a look at the hospitality and dining offers. If you can scrape together enough to get yourself and your friends a box, you’ll experience the best the festival has to offer. But there are also special tickets that include meal and drink vouchers, access to the exclusive areas of the stands and all sorts of promotional goodies.
