April’s Music Roundup

Spring is finally arriving, which means the music events season can really get under-way. With festivals and concerts happening all over Britain, April is really the month for music lovers. Here are a few of the highlights:

Liverpool Rocks Battle of the Bands

There are “Battle of the Bands” competitions all over the UK. But there is nothing like a music competition in Liverpool with its historic musical roots. The home of the Beatles will be hosting what promises to be a very exciting finale to the Liverpool Rocks! Battle of the Bands competition on 5th April in the O2 Academy. If you’re a fan of authentic, fresh music, this concert promises to showcase the best of it. Book a room in one of our Liverpool hotels to make sure you don’t miss it.

One Direction

One Direction has soared to international fame and tickets to their shows are like gold-dust. But if you can get your hands on a pair, it’s well worth the trip to Newcastle, or to the O2 arena, to see the spectacle for yourself. The boys will be up north on 8th April, so find a room in one of our Newcastle hotels and you can enjoy all the city has to offer as well. Or catch them in London between 1st and 6th April.

Il Divo and Katherine Jenkins

If pop music isn’t your thing, maybe tickets to see Il Divo and Katherine Jenkins at the O2 Arena on Friday 19th April will be exactly you need. The classical music superstars are uniting for the first time for their UK and Europe tour, and their stop off in London’s epic venue promises to be the highlight of it. Once you’ve got yourself tickets, why not reserve a room at one of our London hotels and make a weekend of it?

Gateshead International Jazz Festival

This is the UK’s largest festival held under one roof, so if you’re a jazz fan, it’s a must do. Performers include The Brand New Heavies, Ruby Turner and The National Youth Jazz Orchestra, among many others. The festival takes over the Sage Gateshead for a whole weekend from 5th April to 7th, so you’ll need to book a room in our Gateshead hotel to appreciate all of it.

James Echo and the Bunnymen

This legendary band that have sold over 20 million records worldwide are touring this April, so why not try to get tickets to see them at one of the many venues they’ll be visiting? There’ll be stops off in Bournemouth, Newcastle, Sheffield and Leeds, but the best venue to see them might be the O2 Academy in Brixton on 19th or 20th April. If you haven’t spent much time in Brixton, it’s a great cultural area with a real foodie scene, so you’ll find plenty to do to fill up a long weekend away.

Two Door Cinema Club

Another band on tour for April is Two Door Cinema Club and they’ll playing in Alexandra Palace on 27th. If you’re a fan of this Irish indie rock band, you should make sure you get the chance to see them before they jet off to Sweden and Russia.
