We’ve already covered some fantastic Christmas markets in the UK in part 1 of our series, but luckily for you, there are plenty more to investigate – whether you’re looking for that last minute present, a festive feast or just to get into the Christmas spirit!
Our televisions are starting to become awash with Christmas adverts, and kids (adults too) are starting to compile their gift lists, so this is the perfect time to check out a cosy Christmas market.
Whether you’re looking to make a weekend of it or fancy a quick pre-Chrimbo trip to enjoy the calm before the storm as your family descend on you for the festive period – here are three of the UK’s best Christmas markets.
Birmingham Christmas Market
Inspired by Birmingham’s twin city, Frankfurt, this is one of the best German Christmas markets in the country. If it’s festive food you fancy, you can gorge yourself on German goodies such as bratwurst and pretzels and wash it all down with a beer or a glass of gluhwein.
Situated in beautiful Victoria Square, right in the heart of the city, there will be a huge 180 stalls this year plus plenty of live music and carolling from local school pupils.
If that’s not enough, there’s also a craft fair where you can get loads of handmade goods, from Christmas decorations to candles and scarves. With so much to do, why not make a weekend of it and stay in one of our Birmingham hotels?
Nuremberg Christmas Market – Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland
The biggest and perhaps most all-inclusive member of the UK’s Christmas market scene, Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland is a huge sprawling world of festive fun. Like its friends around the country, there are stalls upon stalls of goodies plus plenty of food and drink.
However, what sets this market apart is the extra attractions you can enjoy, including a circus, a ferris wheel and a massive ice rink.
If you fancy spending the weekend in the capital then we have a number of London hotels you can base yourself at while you finish off that pesky Christmas shopping.
Bath Christmas Market
A beautiful location for a trip any time of the year, Bath really does come alive in the run up to Christmas. In the shadows of the spectacular Roman Baths, Bath Abbey and some stunning architecture, this is the highlight of the city’s events calendar.
There are 120 wooden chalet style stalls for you to wander past, all of which contain plenty of festive treats and gift ideas. From the finest handmade goods to unique clothing and jewellery and the tastiest locally produced food and drink – there really is something for everyone at Bath Christmas Market.
Our hotels in Bath provide the ideal place to explore the city from for a weekend or longer. If you’re looking for the perfect festive start to December or just fancy getting in the Christmas mood in the UK’s very own winter extravaganza, then Bath is the market for you.
