Held on the first and the third Saturday of every month, Crediton Farmer’s market is one of the best places to buy local produce. Highlights include the fresh seasonal produce from Shute Fruit, the rich and delicious Curworthy Cheese and baked goods from Devon Bread for a real taste of the Westcountry. Newton Abbot Market
Newton Abbot is home to a range of markets in South Devon. The Food Hall is open Monday to Saturday from 9 until 5, the Outdoor Market is open every Wednesday and Saturday and The Farmers Market is held every Tuesday and Friday. If you prefer hunting for unusual buys, the Trash and Treasure Sale is held every Friday from 9 until 4 and is a great place to browse bric-a-brac and hunt for a bargain. Car boot sales are also held on most Sundays and can be extremely fun in nice weather. For a truly local experience, visit the Livestock Auction, held every Wednesday, and watch the Devonshire farmers battle it out for the best of breed.
Tiverton Panier Market
Tiverton Panier Market is an elegant, covered market, home to different stalls on different days. The Antique and Flea market is held every Monday until 2pm and the Traditional Market is open weekly on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. As well as local produce, Tiverton market is home to a wide range of craft stalls, book stalls and even a power tool supplier! The Garden Gate CafƩ is the perfect place to stop for a cream tea, in the bustling market atmosphere.
Exeter Street Food Market
Street Food is currently all the rage, and what better place to taste it than in Devon’s county town. Held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, prices for meals start from as little as Ā£2.50. Serving world food using local produce, there is no excuse to go hungry during a busy day of browsing and sightseeing. For a spot of relaxation, kick back in the pop-up pub.
