Best pubs to watch the Rugby Autumn Internationals

As the summer draws to a close, the heating goes on, the jumpers come out and rugby fans everywhere look forward to the new season.

Autumn means Internationals as well as Club matches. So if you want somewhere to get into the spirit of the game, here are six top pubs to visit. Whether you support England, Scotland, Wales – or anyone else for that matter!

London

England will be looking for four wins from four very tough games against Ā South Africa, Fiji, ArgentinaĀ and Australia at Twickenham this autumn.

Our London Twickenham Travelodge is the ideal place to base yourself for the rugby and within walking distance from the hotel. And our London Richmond and London Teddington hotels both put you within a couple of miles from the stadium. If you listen hard, you can just about hear ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’ in the distance on matchdays!

1. The Fox

Actually in Twickenham, this Irish pub is the best place for a pint of Guinness and a friendly welcome.

Buzzing on a matchday and a great place to meet after the game, this is Twickenham at its finest.

2. The Cabbage Patch

Another Twickenham special, this is the Harlequins boys’ favourite watering hole – and at only about half a mile from the stadium itself, the ideal place for a drink as soon as you get off the train.

It does get busy on a match day so try and get there early if you don’t want to spend ages queuing at the bar!

Pint of beer and pub food

Edinburgh

The ‘Flower of Scotland’ will ring out around Edinburgh this autumn with the Scots taking on Australia, Argentina and Ā Georgia in the coming months.

Naturally, if you can’t get a ticket, you’ll want to soak up the atmosphere in the right surroundings. So why not stay in one of our Edinburgh hotelsĀ Ā and check out these great rugby pubs?

3. The Beehive

The place to go if you’re looking for match day fun and carnival-like shenanigans, The Beehive comes alive when Scotland host the great and good of international rugby.

In the shadow of the impressive Edinburgh Castle and boasting a garden to house plenty of fans, this is the perfect place to enjoy Scotland games this autumn.

4. The Three Sisters

A huge projector, massive beer garden and televisions everywhere means that wherever you sup your beer in the The Three Sisters, you’ll be able to keep up with all the Autumn Internationals action.

Like a scrum at Murrayfield, you might have to fight your way to the bar on match day, but there’s no better place to get in the spirit than this rough and ready rugby pub.

Cardiff

With the flying Welshmen hosting Australia, Argentina, Japan and South Africa, the fixture list in Cardiff is looking very tempting.

Our hotels in Cardiff areĀ sure to be full to the brim with rugby fans, so why not join them and check out these two boozers while you’re there!

5. Y Mochyn Du (The Black Pig)

Don’t worry if you don’t speak Welsh, the friendly staff at Y Mochyn Du will make you feel at home, whoever you’re supporting during the 2016 Autumn Internationals.

A mixture of local and usual pub grub will keep hunger pains at bay, while the local beers and ciders plus an impressive beer garden mean you can soak up the atmosphere (and a few drinks) pre- or post-match.

6. The Old Arcade

World famous for its rugby roots, there really is no better place to join the throngs of friendly rugby fans than in The Old Arcade.

Expect to hear the dulcet tones of Welshmen singing, plenty of good beer and a match day ambience to get you pumped for the game.
