A Chocoholic’s Guide to the UK

Chopped chocolateWe are fast-approaching a chocoholic’s favourite time of year – Chocolate Week! Running from the 14th to the 20th October, this celebration of all things chocolate sees events take place all over the UK, from tastings to workshops, tours to talks.

But everyone knows that chocolate lovers have a year-round commitment to the confectionary, so staying in our hotels in London and cramming everything in to a mere seven days might not suit everyone. With that in mind, here is our very own chocoholic’s guide to the UK, featuring the great and the good for everyone with a sweet tooth to satisfy.

Choccywoccydoodah, Brighton

With a name that sounds like it’s fresh out of Willy Wonka’s factory, Choccywoccydoodah is the place to go for show-stopping chocolate designs and fantastic tasting sweet treats.

The shop has become so famous that it is now the subject of a television show and is the go-to ‘Bar du Chocolat’ for film stars and celebs. So if you’re looking for a birthday cake that will turn heads, chocolates in the shape of anything weird and wonderful, or just a bit of fun, why not check out one of our hotels in Brighton? You’ll need somewhere to lie down after enjoying everything Choccywoccydoodah has to offer!

Cadbury World, Bourneville

No Chocoholics Guide would be complete without mention of the UK’s favourite chocolate destination – Cadbury World.

Tour the factory (you don’t even need a Golden Ticket) explore the chocolate museum and find out the ins and outs of the chocolate making experience. There’s some interactivity along the way too and even the chance to write your name in chocolate, plus a café and plenty of free tasters to keep you going for at least the car journey home.

We have a number of hotels in Birmingham which are just a short drive from Cadbury World so if you’re looking to make a weekend of it then you’re in good hands!

The Chocolate Academy, Swansea

Based in the Michton Chocolate factory in Swansea, the Chocolate Academy is an experience for the chocolate connoisseur. Enjoy chocolate cooking courses for all ages and abilities and learn how to make your own sweet treats by basing yourself in one of our Swansea hotels!

The Harrods Chocolate Bar, Knightsbridge, London

The name Harrods purrs luxury and exclusivity and their Chocolate Bar is no different. Here you can eat and drink anything from hot chocolate, milkshakes, ice-cream, gourmet chocolate dishes, fondues and even hot toddies surrounded by other chocolate aficionados.

It really is the perfect tonic after a day shopping in London and a bit of chocolate can always soften the blow of all the money you spent on designer labels!

If you fancy visiting the capital for the weekend to take in some other sights then we have a number of hotels in London where you can explore the city at your leisure.

And there you have it, plenty of things to see and do to keep even the most passionate of chocoholics busy all year-round. Just don’t let it spoil your dinner!
