Travelodge opens a new hotel at Glasgow Queen Street

Travelodge is delighted to announce the opening of Glasgow Queen Street hotel, its 6th hotel in Glasgow.

This lively city is home to many famous cultural venues including the Theatre Royal and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. If you’re into art, the city’s Gallery of Modern Art is a short stroll away from our hotel and it’s well placed for visits to friends and family at Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of Strathclyde.  If you’re wanting to venture further afield, then you’re less than 10 minutes walk from Glasgow train station.

This hotel has a modern and spacious on-site restaurant and bar that serves breakfast and tasty evening meals, along with 171 rooms over 12 floors that all have our new, fresh design that features a comfy king size bed with four plump pillows and a cosy duvet.

The recruitment process for Glasgow Queen Street has been remarkable, receiving almost 500 top quality applications which were revisited to extend the team further soon after opening. Glasgow Queen Street hotel has now created 50 new local jobs.

A word from the Glasgow Queen Street Hotel Manager

The Glasgow Queen Street hotel is being managed by Libby Gilmour who is celebrating her eighth year working for Travelodge. Libby used the company’s partnership with the Job Centre Plus, which helps the long term unemployed get back into work, to recruit her team. She says:

“Our new hotel is situated in a fantastic location and we’re really excited to be welcoming the Travelodge charm to Queen Street, boosting the economy through the creation of these exciting jobs. I’m really pleased to be introducing more team members to the brand and developing new talent.”
