On the 25th of January, it\u2019s time to start celebrating Burns Night – a \u00a0Scottish celebration remembering the life of the great poet Robert Burns. <\/span><\/p>\n

His most celebrated contribution to culture, is the famous \u201cAuld Lang Syne\u201d, a song close to any Briton\u2019s heart, normally sung on New Year\u2019s Eve. The Scottish traditionally eat Haggis, Neeps and Tatties on Burns Night, in remembrance of an Ode that Burns wrote to the sausage-like dish. For some it’s also traditional to drink whisky, wear tartan and listen to traditional speakers recite poems and stories.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here are 5 places to celebrate Burns Night around Britain:<\/span><\/p>\n

Ceilidh Club, London<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Celebrate Burns night at The Ceilidh Club, in Hammersmith with eating, drinking, dancing, piping and poetry. \u00a0There\u2019s 3 hours of traditional dancing to a wonderful band and caller ( who will let you know the steps) and Haggis, neeps (turnips) and tatties (potatoes) are served buffet style.<\/span><\/p>\n

Celebrations take place at the Hammersmith Town Hall on the 20th, 21st, 27th, 28th, Jan and the 3rd and 4th Feb 2017. Tickets can be purchased <\/span>online <\/span><\/span><\/a>for \u00a334.50. Dressing up is appreciated.<\/span><\/p>\n

Scotland is obviously the best place to celebrate Burns night and an evening at Stirling Castle will provide the full experience. The beautiful Scottish Castle is a must see. On 22nd January the \u2018Revel with Rabbie\u2019 event from 12pm – 4pm celebrates the life and works of the famous poet. You can learn about the Stirling Lines, how to address a haggis and have a dram and a bite of haggis in honour of the bard. This event is included in normal admission to the Castle.<\/span><\/p>\n

Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, Ayr<\/strong><\/h3>\n

What better place to celebrate that at the birthplace of the National bard? This fascinating <\/span>museum<\/span><\/span><\/a> gives visitors an insight into the Ayrshire ploughman who became one of the world\u2019s best known poets.<\/span><\/p>\n
