Diwali is one of the most important days in the annual calendar for millions of people across the globe. This year, the Festival of Lights will radiate across Leicester once again to celebrate our collective victory over darkness.<\/h2>\n

1. Diwali Lights Switch On (29th October)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"DiwaliTo kick off your Diwali celebrations in Leicester<\/span><\/a>, heading down to the annual Diwali Lights Switch on is a must \u2013 especially since this year marks its 40th anniversary. Hosted on Belgrave Road in the city centre, the event is expected to attract over 40,000 people and will feature a vibrant programme of attractions, suitable for the whole family.<\/h4>\n

The Diwali Village on Cossington Street Recreation Ground is set to feature fun fair rides and refreshment stalls to keep you going throughout the day\u2019s festivities. Experience authentic music and dance recitals, plus a Rangoli exhibition at the Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre ahead of the switch on. And don\u2019t forget the final act \u2013 a firework display like no other! Celebrations will begin at 3pm and continue until 9pm, so make sure to wrap up and prepare to party.<\/h4>\n

2. Wheel of Light (13th October \u2013 12th November)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"LeicesterIf you\u2019re ready to elevate your celebrations to new heights, why not take a spin on Leicester\u2019s Diwali Wheel of Light? Returning to Belgrave Road for another year of family fun, this sparkling attraction is the perfect way to kick off the party.<\/h4>\n

Visitors to the wheel will get the chance to journey up to 110 feet and take in unrivalled views of Leicester\u2019s Golden Mile, as well as the wider skyline. Ideal for families, couples and groups, the Wheel of Light will run from 12th October until 12th November.<\/h4>\n

3. Diwali Day (12th November)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"DiwaliIt\u2019s the moment we\u2019ve all been waiting for: Diwali Day 2023<\/span><\/a>. Commencing 12th November on Leicester\u2019s Golden Mile, this year\u2019s 40th anniversary celebrations are a must-experience if you\u2019re in the city. Visitors will be able to enjoy a diverse programme of music and dance on Belgrave Road\u2019s main stage, as well as an incredible aerial fireworks display to light up the night.<\/h4>\n

New additions this year will include light-up Ancient Giants roaming the streets, authentic rickshaws, lantern processions and live entertainment across a series of stages. And as if that wasn\u2019t enough, the city\u2019s Diwali Village will remain open throughout the celebrations with food stalls, family-friendly rides, light installations and more.<\/h4>\n
