What we do

It’s not just our customers we want to give a great start. Work at Travelodge and we’ll make sure you wake up to something different every day too.

For over 30 years, we’ve been providing everyone with unbeatable value in travel. Whilst that hasn’t changed, the speed at which we’re growing certainly has. Today we’re one of the UK’s largest and fastest growing hotel chains, with over 500 hotels and 38,000 rooms. And over the last couple of years, we’ve invested millions in the business, helping transform the way people see us.

  • Over 17 million people stayed with us last year.
  • £100m invested in modernising our hotels with a new contemporary look and feel.
  • We have over 9,000 team members across the business.

The future

As a brand, we’re well established in the hearts and minds of our customers, but we’ve never sat back and thought ‘job done’. That’s because the next customer and the next Travelodge experience is always the most important. So we’re firmly looking ahead with the ambition to become the favourite hotel for value. With many new hotels already planned for the next year, and the potential spotted for at least 250 more, we’re well on the way to making Travelodge Britain’s favourite hotel for value.

Travelodge is born. The first budget hotel in the UK - opened by Trusthouse Forte - is rebranded.

Just five years in, and we open our 100th hotel, at Norwich Cringleford.

Granada buy Trusthouse Forte. The lodges from both companies are merged.

As the new millennium arrives, we open our 200th hotel. This one at Liverpool Street, London.

Something of a milestone as we launch the revolutionary 'book early for the best rate' pricing structure. We invest £½ bn in a new growth programme too.

The Travelodge Dreamer™ arrives. The luxury high-end king size bed plays its role in unveiling our new room design and helps kick off a nationwide makeover of our hotels.

Exciting news as we announce we're the fastest growing major UK hotel brand. And reveal plans to open more than 250 new hotels in the years ahead.

Corporate social responsibility

When it comes to delivering great value, we believe it should go beyond our customers. Which is why you’ll find us actively supporting job creation by working with JobCentre Plus to help the long-term unemployed. Then there’s the work we do with charities. In 2011 we became the first hotel brand to join Pennies - the pioneering electronic donation box – while in 2016 we asked our people which charity they’d like to support. So we've started raising money for British Heart Foundation. We have an eye firmly on the environment too. Low energy lighting, aerated showers and super-insulated walls are just some ways we’re cutting our carbon footprint through our Green Programme.

Building the favourite hotel for value doesn’t just happen. It takes a lot of passion, desire and hard work from everyone who works here. While it’s a challenge we thrive on, it’s also why our values are so important to us. Together they create the experiences our customers want to return to, and an environment and culture which will inspire us too.

  • Think Customer

Making customers feel special is at the heart of what we do. We care about them, we listen to them. Taking ownership when they have problems and making sure we resolve them.

  • Wanting Better

Every day we take the responsibility for improving things for our customers, the business and ourselves. It all comes down to making a positive contribution, aiming to get things right first time and learning from our mistakes if we don't.

  • One Team

To succeed together, we work together. Building working relationships by listening to opinions, sharing ideas and giving each other the reliable support we need.

To us, who you are, where you’re from and what you believe really matters. We believe in treating each other as individuals for a start, and making the most of our own personalities. But there’s a bit more to it than that. We see our differences as a fantastic opportunity to bring us together. So we can each learn more, combine our talents and build on our capabilities. For our benefit and that of our customers. It all goes into making Travelodge a fascinating, ever-changing place to work.
