Gilbert, Hotel Manager

After starting with Travelodge as his second job, Gilbert quickly realised it was the place for him. As a Night Receptionist, he saw the possibility of growth and career opportunities and chose to make the most of them. He is now managing one of our largest hotels in the centre of London – enjoying the challenges and the flexibility to work around his family and his daily trip to the gym.

  • Night Team Member, London Kew Bridge

    Dec 2004 - Dec 2005

    Gilbert started his journey with the business as a Night Team Member in our 101-bedroom hotel in the heart of South West London.

    Dec 2005 - Sept 2006

    Wanting to develop further, Gilbert asked to learn Food & Beverage in our hotel in the heart of Wembley at our busy 174-bed hotel.

    Securing his place on the Management Development Programme, Gilbert practised what he had learnt in our 134-bedroom bar cafe hotel, which is a key site for business customers.

    Dec 2006 - Jan 2008

    Taking on his first hotel Manager role in Staines town centre, he looked after this small 60-bedroom hotel with a strong and reliable team, and was able to build upon his managerial knowledge.

    For his next challenge, Gilbert wanted to be in a busier hotel, so he moved into one of our busiest weekend hotels, in the centre of Watford, our 99-bedroom bar cafe site.

    Gilbert then took on a secondment role in our Project team, where he helped to ensure a key rollout was implemented – allowing him to use different skills and also build relationships.

  • Assistant Hotel Manager, London Wembley

    Jun 2010 - Sept 2011

    Gilbert next moved into our hotel in the heart of Wembley. With a high volume of guests, our 174-bed hotel is almost always full, which allowed him to learn how to effectively time-manage.

    Sept 2011 - Sept 2012

    Back into a Hotel Management role at a 100-bed bar cafe site located just off the M25, Gilbert was able to make key decisions and drive performance.

  • Hotel Manager, London Cricklewood

    Sept 2012 - Oct 2013

    After one year, Gilbert moved on to another Hotel Manager role at one of our 100-bed bar cafe sites, and helped us achieve a TripAdvisor Centre of Excellence certification.

  • Hotel Manager, Heathrow T5

    Oct 2013 - Nov 2015

    Following these successes, Gilbert proved that he was ready to manage one of our most important airport sites, and became the Hotel Manager of our 297-bed bar cafe Heathrow T5 hotel.

    He is now currently managing one of our top 5 properties with 408 bedrooms and a bar cafe in the centre of London with an excellent, hard-working team.
