Mark, Head of Outsourced Maintenance

Mark started as a Night Receptionist in our Chester Northop Hall hotel. Since signing up for our Management Development programme, he has had the chance to work right across the UK in multi-site management positions, and is now Head of Outsourced Maintenance with our Support Office.

  • Night Team Member, Chester Northop Hall

    Jul 1998 - Mar 1999

    Mark’s first role was as a Night Receptionist in our 40-bedroom Chester Northop Hall hotel on the outskirts of Chester, which is one of the first Travelodge’s ever built

  • Assistant Hotel Manager, Luton

    Apr 1999 - Jun 1999

    He started his management journey in our Luton hotel, with 90 bedrooms and a bar cafe.

  • Assistant Hotel Manager, Manchester Central

    Jul 1999 - Dec 1999

    Mark then moved back to Manchester and became Assistant Manager in our perfectly placed hotel in the heart of this Northern city; perfect for those wanting to be at the centre of the action with 181 bedrooms and a large bar cafe.

  • Assistant Hotel Manager, Edinburgh Central

    Jan 2000 - Apr 2000

    To progress his career, Mark moved to Edinburgh, and joined the Edinburgh Central hotel, which is conveniently located in the heart of this Scottish capital with 193 rooms and a great bar cafe with a huge, dedicated team.

    May 2000 - Jun 2001

    His first hotel management role took Mark to our 95 bedroom Glasgow Central hotel, where he built on his managerial knowledge.

  • Hotel Manager, Edinburgh Central

    Jul 2001 - Feb 2004

    Mark then went back to his previous hotel, but this time as the Hotel Manager, and really made sure that the 193-room hotel stood out and delivered on all targets set for him, by ensuring he had a motivated and engaged team.

  • Cluster Manager, North /Newcastle

    Feb 2004- Jun 2005

    His next challenge was to manage multiple sites, ensuring all hotels delivered excellent customer service – driving results in over 15 sites.

    In the space of seven years, Mark managed a number of different districts for Travelodge; from the North West to Manchester, and then Central London, continuously challenging himself and pushing the business forward.

    Moving into our Support Office, Mark was managing a large team that continuously supports our hotels throughout the year with guest relocations and emergencies.
