Maintenance Recruitment

Title: Maintenance Operative

Working Pattern: To be generally Monday to Friday with Saturday working on a rota basis with other Maintenance Operatives and his Supervisor. The Operative will be expected to be available on call on Sundays in the event of an emergency.

Transport: A van will be provided for transport between the hotels to allow the Maintenance Operative to undertake his role. This van will also be for use to get to and from work each day.

Location: UK wide

Reporting to: Regional Maintenance Supervisor

Objective: To provide effective reactive maintenance within hotel bedrooms as part of the internal maintenance team made up of 115 staff members. Travelodge consider this to be a key position in an important strategy for the business and are looking for someone with real passion for the role to provide well maintained hotels for the ultimate benefit of the customer. The successful candidate will need to provide key support to the operational teams at the hotels and be fully committed to reduce the number of offline rooms within the hotels to protect revenue. There is also a requirement to undertake non reactive work throughout the hotel when instructed to do so.

Other Considerations: The post holder will be expected to observe safe working practices in carrying out the required duties and ensure that instructions specified by the central scheduling team and the Regional Maintenance Supervisor are adhered to. The Maintenance Operative will be expected to have a recognised trade (plumbing or electrical) with at least 3 years experience. There is also the need to be able to undertake electrical works as detailed below and appropriate certification will be required in one of these trades. Appropriate specific job training will be provided. The ability of the Operative to have a good relationship between their fellow Operatives, Regional Supervisor and the operation teams at the hotels will be a key function of the role.

Minimum Qualifications: The candidate will be required to have either City and Guilds (6129) Certificate in Basic Plumbing and NVQ Level 2 or electrical certification to 17 Edition (2382/10); Inspection and testing (2391/10) and Part P registered with a government body (e.g. NICEIC), NVQ Level 3.

Other Qualifications: It would be beneficial although not essential if the candidate held City and Guilds Carpentry and Joinery (6217) and NVQ Level 2, Painting and Decorating City and Guilds and NVQ Level 2 and a current CSCS card.
