Job Description
We're looking for a Lead People Business Partner to join us from mid February 2019 for 9 months. This role is part time covering 25-30 hours per week, working days negotiable.

The job in a nutshell

This is a key role, responsible for all People-related aspects for our Hotel Support Centre. As Lead People Business Partner, you would define and manage recruitment,training and organisational design and be the business partner to our senior leaders at the Thame office. You would also be defining and managing our environment and culture with overall responsibility for facilities and people proposition at this site


What you’ll be doing:


Culture and change

Translates Travelodge expectations, into internal employee and organisational behaviours and coaching senior leaders and managers so that they understand how their behaviour reflects the desired culture


Talent planning and productivity and recruitment

Works with senior leaders and managers to ensure that talent requirements and people capability is understood and a plan in place to meet talent gaps and key roles. This could be through succession, development or talent acquisition. Managing senior hire recruitment directly and leading the Resourcing Manager to fulfil all mid-level recruitment (junior hires will be managed by a separate team)


The working environment

Manages the facilities’ budget and team, driving innovative ways to create a great place to work. This would include the physical environment, supplier management all services for the building. It would also mean developing cost neutral or low cost opportunities for additional services to support our people when they are in work (e.g. car valeting, catering, ironing, massage, sports events etc)


Training and development

Collaborates with managers and the Learning and Development Manager to define the L&D requirements for Sleepy Hollow, ensuring that training and development plans are in place and aligned to achieving business priorities


Relationship building

Consults with the business and continually refreshes own network both within and outside the business so as to bring new insight and best practice


Commercial impact

Learns from good practice and benchmarks against other organisations so to tap into new initiatives and approaches beneficial to Travelodge

Identifies opportunities to drive productivity and commercial value through people and team effectiveness. Understands how the business operates, how each function contributes. Spots and acts on opportunities to add value.


Employee relations

Guides and supports managers in their decision-making so as to create a working environment which is productive 


What we’ll expect from you


The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a fast paced HR environment. You’ll have exposure to supporting head office functions and be able to influence and work with senior stakeholders (up to board level).

This is not just a partnering role, it will require someone who is commercial and able to make decisions but who also demonstrates a real passion for creating a great working environment for our people. It is a thinking and doing role.

Educated to degree level

CIPD preferable
