The job in a nutshell

You will be a key face of our delivery team and a critical bridge between the technical delivery teams and business users, engaging closely with a range of stakeholders and subject matter experts across departments. Your core role will be to engage, understand, ratify, capture, document and play back their digital requirements, helping manage demand in line with corporate strategy. You will break down high level requirements into detail, using formats that optimise efficiency of solution design, including user stories and other collateral facilitating clear agreement and communication of requirement and efficiency of design. You will be strongly supported by Delivery Management and Technical Architecture to ensure initiatives stay aligned with corporate strategy and result in development of secure, compliant, functional and highly performant features and changes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Act as enabler, ambassador and bridge between IT and the Business.

  • Build rapport through regular engagement with business stakeholders to understand the processes and technology they use, their business drivers, and their priorities as aligned to Travelodge corporate objectives.

  • Contribute to the creation of robust business cases and project initiation documentation to ensure new initiatives come into being following a well-communicated, agreed and evidence-based approach.

  • Working within the IT Delivery team, following a pragmatic, value-focused, nimble approach, you will liaise with Business owners and SME’s from a range of departments (Revenue, Finance, Operations, Marketing), Delivery Management, Technical Architecture and IT Operations to ensure prioritised business needs are met by proposed solution designs and that developers and testers fully understand what needs to be delivered.

  • Execute and document highly focused analysis and documentation, including workshops, user stories/requirements and diagrams, enabling the development team to focus on developing the right solutions for the right business problems.

  • Understand Travelodge’s as-is and to-be technologies, systems, architectures, and development processes, and contribute to the formulation and design of to-be features and initiatives that most efficiently add value.

  • Document and manage business, system, non-functional and functional requirements, traceability matrices, impact analyses, business processes and recommendations.

  • Engage and liaise with IT Operations to ensure operational service requirements are captured, agreed and built into requirements and design.

  • Prepare written documentation and correspondence that is accurate, concise, coherent, effective, professional and engaging.

  • Assume additional responsibility without being asked.

  • Proactively seek opportunities to broaden and deepen knowledge base and proficiencies.

What we’ll expect from you

Essential

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience of engaging with a wide range of stakeholders to senior level.

  • Ability to probe and challenge in a professional way, to ensure the ‘why’ of requirements is understood, agreed and documented alongside the ‘what’.

  • Someone who “gets things done”: willingness and ability to be absolutely hands-on with detailed business analysis, including holding requirements and prioritisation workshops, completing detailed analysis and documentation.  

  • Excellent working understanding of data systems, interfaces, digital technologies and agile development processes, with strong experience of in working within both waterfall and agile frameworks, bridging product/business owners, SME’s  and technical teams.

  • Working knowledge of digital development, with in-depth understanding of technical concepts and the ability to communicate these clearly to non-expert audiences.

  • Ability to work with 3rd party suppliers face to face and remotely.

  • Excellent planning, self-organisation and time-management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in hospitality and/or travel

  • Educated to degree standard in Computer Science or a similar subject.

  • ISEB

  • Agile certification (eg CSPO, CSM, CSP, DSDM).

  • Prince2 / PMP

  • ITIL
