Job Description
The job in a nutshell

The People and Training Advisor delivers defined objectives and projects and operates to a planned and evolving brief which includes delivery of cyclical HR activity and projects as well as reacting to requirements as they arise.

The role is fluid and the focus of the role may change and will be to deliver on the current and forecasted priorities and where the workload is high.

The role works closely with the Head of People Services and Training and the wider leadership and delivery team.

What you’ll be doing:


  • Designing training materials and solutions for job processes, technical skills, products, behaviours and soft skills.

  • Preparing and delivering on the job, workshop, 1:1 and classroom training.

  • Advising on the training cycle, theory and external insight to internal projects and design work.

  • Coordinating, leading or supporting training projects.


People Compliance and risk

  • Coordinating the compliance and people risk register.

  • Monitoring and advising on people risk initiatives including the national living wage action plan.

  • Managing the People GDPR action plan in conjunction with the wider risk and compliance team to ensure balanced, practical adherence to the regulations.

  • Design and delivery of people compliance training and the PD&I policy schedule.

  • Maintaining and updating compliance-related policies and implementation.

  • Proactively learning and the sharing of external insight into people risk matters and providing recommendations internally.

  • Advising on people related safety matters, monitoring incident trends and leading preventative action plans. Advises the H&S governance team.

People Reporting and Insight

  • Providing regular and cyclical reports and responding to ad hoc requests for reports and data.

  • Building reports and metrics in our HR Analytics tool so that the internal people function and stakeholders can use to develop actions.

  • Maintaining existing dashboards in our HR Analytics tool and Google DataStudios.

People Planning and Advice

  • Support the overall people services and training communication and cyclical plan, delivering on specific periodical actions.

  • Coordinating communication and planning of the company annual leave process including compliance monitoring.

  • Acting as the People Advisor for assigned teams, including to those in countries outside of the UK (including Spain).

  • Owns the people plan and cyclical activities and ensures appropriate alignment to the UK people plan. Includes collaboration and end to end management of reward and performance management activities and all other people related matters.

  • Working closely with external suppliers including outsourced HR consultants, legal advisors and to help in the planning and engagement of the teams you support.

Policy and ER Advice

  • Maintaining, composing and advising on policies that are pragmatic, compliant and fit for purpose.

  • Developing and delivering communication and training plans for the launch and amendment of policies.

  • Provision of policy and ER advice on issues and cases to bring to a conclusion quickly and effectively.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

  • Coordinating the E&D activity plan ensuring governance, delivery of actions and engaging stakeholders.

  • Proactively developing the ED&I agenda, learning of external insight and providing recommendations internally.

  • Working collaboratively with the employee relations team to coordinate the E&D structure and inform of current E&D issues.

Initiative/Project Management

  • Support, coordination or management of appropriate initiatives and projects as agreed and set by the Head of People Services and Training.

What we’ll expect from you


  • Generalist HR administration and advisory experience in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to learn and use excel and HR analytics software and tools at a basic to intermediate level.

  • Ability to design and deliver training.

  • Small project or initiative management experience.

  • Basic knowledge of NMW & GDPR legislation and HMRC employment guidelines.

  • Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in the context of employment and a budget hotel business in the UK.

  • Good knowledge of the equality act and employment rights act.

  • Excellent report writing and grammar.


  • Experience in using HR analytics software and tools to provide insight and reporting.

  • Risk management experience.

  • Experience in managing an equality, diversity and inclusion agenda.

  • Experience in working in a NMW environment.

  • Degree educated or CIPD level 3 qualified or equivalent
