This is an exciting time to join Travelodge and as UX Developer, you would be pivotal in us realising our digital and customer ambitions. This is a multi-disciplinary field, incorporating visual design, computer programming, consumer research, so understanding a diverse array of software is vital.

The job in a nutshell

Reporting to the Head of UX and Content, the UX Developer is an integral member of the digital team. The ideal candidate will be a great developer who is passionate about delivering clean code. Part designer and part developer; you must have creative skills and code know how.

You’ll use your knowledge of User Experience to ensure functional and aesthetic consistency across all digital platforms, whilst influencing decisions at design stage to ensure that they are aligned with user needs and expectations. Building conceptual prototypes, to build out an idea and test across multiple devices.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing code based on user journeys and wireframes

  • Creating style guidelines and functional specifications

  • Producing a range of UX concepts for the digital stakeholders

  • Working closely with the team to identify and implement new/improved concepts and designs

  • Develop capabilities and approaches in development to measure and track the impact of UX enhancements

  • Make the interactive components of a site come to life

What we’ll expect from you:

  • A developer with a deep UX understanding

  • Commercially focused and can appreciate the ‘bigger picture’

  • Informed of the latest industry and cultural trends

  • Good at brainstorming but also a great researcher

  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

  • Experience of working with/managing stakeholders including agencies

  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast paced environment

  • A collaborator with strong interpersonal and communication skills

Software expertise:

  • Familiar with Adobe CC including XD

  • Experience of Axure or similar prototyping applications

  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript

  • Frameworks/tools such as LESS/SASS, jQuery, Bootstrap

  • Cross-browser and cross-device understanding

  • API integrations

  • CRM/CMS development

  • TDD experience nice to have

  • Responsive design - AMP knowledge with regards mobile dev

  • UI animation using CSS transitions a bonus
