This is a 12 month fixed term contract which is salaried rather than paid as a day rate.

The job in a nutshell

The Planning Manager role is a fixed term role for 12 months to support the Director of FP&A, Head of Financial Planning & Investments and Planning Manager to transform existing planning processes to become class leading.  


The role will work alongside the Planning Manager and in addition to the transformation element of the role is jointly responsible for managing the production of high quality financial plans, budgets and forecasts. 


What you’ll be doing:


  • Identify opportunities to integrate the production of P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow forecasts working alongside the Group Reporting Manager to ensure robustness and high levels of accuracy

  • Support the Planning Manager in developing a rolling forecast 

  • Supporting the preparation of forecasts and business plans through working with  multiple departments and stakeholders including scenario planning, what-if analysis and preparation of high quality presentations

  • ‘Super User’ of the financial planning system (Anaplan) with responsibility in providing training and advice to other users

  • Lead in the continued development and improvement of planning drivers through working with operational finance and wider finance teams

  • Development of integrated, flexible and robust sensitivity models

  • Support in the continued development of the company cash flow model for use as part of forecast and planning cycles, including review cash movements, assumptions and alignment with trading plans and changes to customer and supplier payment profiles.

  • Preparation of weekly cash flow report for review for distribution to Board Members and Owners.  

  • Undertake appropriate analysis to inform the preparation of cash forecasts

  • Ad-hoc analysis as required

What we’ll expect from you


Essential:  


  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with 3+ years PQE

  • Proactive self-starter 

  • Able to use own initiative and confident to challenge and present own point of view concisely and effectively

  • Be able to express and resolve queries in a concise and timely manner

  • Confident, articulate individual comfortable dealing with both financial and non-financial stakeholders at all levels of the company

  • Ability to work with complex data, presenting it in a user-friendly format and able to make concise and insightful observations about it

  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment and be able to keep a calm head and manage time with changing priorities is crucial

  • Ability to use your own initiative and be confident to challenge and present your own point of view concisely and effectively.

  • High level of competence in Microsoft Excel is essential with an ability to analyse large volumes of data


Desirable: 


  • Prior experience of producing company financial statements

  • Financial planning skills

  • Prior treasury / cash forecasting experience
