The job in a nutshell

The Regional People Business Partner works in close collaboration with the Regional Director and District Managers, building and maintaining effective relationships to support the business achieve its strategic goals. 

 

The role is key to driving successful operational performance through the delivery of key people initiatives and people performance, and aligning operating priorities with the people agenda. The role ensures that a talent pipeline is in place and top talent is retained.


What you’ll be doing:

 

Talent management and succession planning:

  • Work with Regional Director and District Managers to ensure that top talent is identified and retained through effective personal development planning, and work with the development team to ensure this is supported.

  • Accountable for the regional succession plan, ensuring big hotels always have a named successor ‘ready now’. Create a resource plan that identifies various pipelines to fill management roles.

  • Work collaboratively across the country with colleagues to ensure moves happen cross-regionally.


Change management

  • Works with regional management teams to support and embed changes into hotels (both people initiatives and operational changes).


Retention and people turnover reduction

  • Work collaboratively with District Managers and Hotel Managers to identify the root cause of hotels with high attrition. Contribute to the formulation of an action plan to address people related concern areas for the business, and implement this across the region

 

Performance management

  • Coach Regional and District managers to effectively manage both high and under performance. Identify what causes under performance and develop line managers to be able to effectively action plan.  Work with the support team on high risk ER and LTS cases to ensure swift resolution.

 

Culture & Business Alignment

  • Always gives consideration to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion matters and creates an inclusive culture.

  • Identifies opportunities to drive productivity and commercial value through people and team effectiveness. Understands how the business operates, how each function contributes. Spots and acts on opportunities to add value.


People Development

  • Work with the training & development team to discuss support required within the region to support talent initiatives

  • Provide ad-hoc tailored upskilling sessions based on regional and district needs that fall outside of the L&D plan and capacity. 


Stakeholder management 

  • Build strong internal stakeholder relationships at all levels, promoting communication and innovation

  • Present at Regional and District meetings


What we’ll expect from you

 

We are looking for someone with considerable experience in a fast paced HR environment. You will need to have experience of working in an environment where change is regular and priorities can change quickly. Experience of succession planning and talent management is essential.

You will have a thorough understanding of how Business Partnering works and the ability to understand the commercial impacts of decisions that are made.

Preferably CIPD accredited, you will be able to demonstrate your impact & influence skills in an operational environment.

You will need to have a full UK drivers license and be able to travel across the South of the UK and into London.  Overnight stays may be required on occasion.
