The job in a nutshell


Working with the Communications Director to implement the annual consumer PR strategy targeting an ABC 1 target audience and targeted markets which includes: business travellers, families, affluent couples and group travellers.


What you’ll be doing:

 

  • Taking ownership to deliver the annual consumer PR activity calendar  

  • Creating, drafting and selling-in consumer press releases and travel offers using research data, company and customer information.

  • Be responsible for creating media lists, sell-in programme and be tenacious on selling in press releases

  • Creating journalist contacts across all consumer media spectrums   

  • Evaluating consumer media campaigns and creating an evaluation report 

  • Develop and manage an internal news feed programme across all UK Travelodge hotels and build a catalogue of staff case studies and news stories

  • Supporting the team on other sell-in’s

  • Support the Communications Director to draft briefing materials for other PR activity   


What we’ll expect from you


  • Extensive experience within a press officer role, preferably in a large    company or a PR agency and worked with high profile brands

  • Experience of creating and implementing a consumer PR strategy

  • Experience of drafting consumer news related press releases & press material

  • Extensive experience of selling in a press release to different consumer journalists

  • Experience of working cross departmental within a company  

  • Strong writing skills especially writing consumer related communications

  • Good media contacts amongst consumer journalists

  • Project management experience  

  • Experience in drafting briefing packs 

  • Highly organised / good attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal communications

  • Relentless drive, enthusiasm and conviction

  • Ability to build relationships quickly

  • Be able to work on their own initiative and easily within a team

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and in a fast moving environment

  • Ability to manage several projects at the same time

  • Hands-on person who focuses on deliverables and results

  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent

The role is based in Thame (Oxfordshire) but some travel into London will be essential.
