The Commercial Procurement vision is to deliver Better Procurement to fit with the Better Travelodge aims. The Director of Commercial Procurement will embody that vision, ensuring the delivery of goods and services at the best value for Travelodge at all times. The focus is assurance & sustainability of supply, quality and service at the lowest total cost for customers (both internal and external).


As custodian of the Commercial Procurement Strategic Objectives to:


  • Build stronger customer & business partnerships.

  • Create a more capable, sustainable procurement.

  • Develop a simpler, flexible, more agile commercial process.

  • Learn and earn more with our partners & suppliers.

  • Achieve bigger, better procurement outcomes at pace.


What you’ll be doing:


  • Create strong business partnerships across the Operating Board members and their senior leadership teams to understand the business, promote and drive commercial excellence and lead by example on how to create trust with suppliers and supply chains. 

  • Manage and improve Value for Money spend circa. £250m per annum by application of appropriate Demand-side and Supply-side Value Levers across FM & Utilities, Customer Services, Marketing, Property & Construction, IT, Food & Beverage and Corporate Services.

  • Lead and deliver the Transformation Roadmap Outcomes for Change to assure supply, reduce risk and deliver sustainable value.

  • Lead, motivate and coach a team of procurement professionals, networking externally as appropriate, to access new insights and innovation.


Stakeholders:


Internal – Operating Board, Business Planning Group, Heads of Departments, Supply Chain Management, Legal.

External: - Owners, Suppliers, Lawyers, External Agencies. 


Budget & Staff Management Accountabilities


Manage a cost centre with a spend of c.£800k+ per annum, as well as support the whole business with the delivery of its EBITDA targets.


Inspire, lead, motivate and develop and manage a team.


What we’ll expect from you


Essential:

  • Strategic thinker with a delivery / hands on style to get things done at pace.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills.

  • Strategic and tactical approach to cost management, using innovative thinking to drive savings.

  • Strong numeracy with the ability to assimilate information from multiple sources, to challenge and quickly assess validity.

  • Procurement Best Practice including a track record of leading Category Planning, Category Management and Supplier Management using best in class tools and techniques.

  • Supplier and contract negotiation, and operational procurement management.

  • Ability to prioritise and reconcile conflicting demands, delivering multiple projects to deadlines with focus on delivering tangible, measurable results.

  • Leading, managing, coaching and developing cross-functional teams.


Desirable: 

  • Member of CIPS, preferably a master’s degree in Business Administration, or other evidence of substantial business knowledge.

  • Hotel Industry experience.
