Job Description

As an Operational Supplier Manager at Travelodge you’ll take day to day responsibility for managing a portfolio of Contracts and Suppliers for the business area you work for, to assure supply and mitigate risk.

What you’ll be doing:

Whilst the role will not be part of the central Commercial Procurement team, the expectation is that you will follow the procurement policies, and guidance as set by that team and work closely with the relevant commercial procurement leads as they develop commercial strategies to follow the ‘Better Procurement’ way. You will be accountable and responsible for the day-to-day supplier contact and contract management of your suppliers:

Supplier Management

  • Ensuring supplier and Travelodge commitments are met on a day to day basis as per the contractual KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and SLA’s (Service Level Agreements), implementing and maintaining best practices for end-to-end management of all contract/supplier decisions, negotiations, financial analysis and contracting.

  • Implement and manage the contract governance, documentation retention, performance improvement, risk, change management & escalation processes for your contracts / suppliers.

  • Maximise use of all eProcurement tools and repositories to ensure document retention, knowledge management, lessons learnt and betterment.

  • Set up, manage and report on benefits tracking for your suppliers.

  • Apply the procure to pay transaction process for each of your contracts / suppliers re contractual agreements and delivered performance.

  • Deliver transition, implementation plan & exit plan at end of contract

Stakeholder Management 

  • Lead business owners in contribution to the management of suppliers and contract delivery to meet the business requirements from the market in life, and on a day to day basis.

  • Build working relationships with relevant stakeholders to assist with issue escalation and resolution with suppliers.

  • Build strong and proactive internal stakeholder relationships at all levels, promoting engagement, communication and innovation.

Procurement Process Support

  • Contribute to defining and conducting requests for information, tenders and negotiations in support of the procurement lead holders to find the best sourcing solution to meet business and commercial requirements, reduce current spend levels and achieve target cost savings, innovation and betterment with Commercial Procurement

  • Manage the contract database for personally owned contracts to ensure contract renewal is managed to allow optimum time to work with Commercial Procurement to create a category strategy and allow enough time for relevant eProcurement and negotiation preparation & execution.

  • Advise Procurement of any changes to supplier profile and contract scope so that they can understand impact and change control contract and supplier classification databases.

What we’ll expect from you

To succeed in the role, you’ll bring your desire and skills to work in a ‘developing’ commercial environment and your established experience in a Contract / Supplier Management role. You’ll be able to demonstrate your ability to build strong stakeholder and supplier relationships, supporting, whilst challenging & influencing when required.

You will need to demonstrate:

  • driving process adherence throughout the Supplier Management cycle.

  • A strategic and tactical mindset, innovative in your approach to improving costs.

  • Well organised and experienced in delivering stretching targets in managing cross-functional teams to deliver complex tasks to agreed outcomes.

  • your great influencing and negotiation skills and ability to deal with numbers.

  • analytically strong with solid skills in data research and the ability to assimilate information from multiple sources, challenging and quickly assessing validity to understand the true nature of the situation.

  • well-developed presentation and communication skills.

  • commercially astute and financially literate.
