The Commercial Procurement vision is to deliver Better Procurement to fit with the Better Travelodge aims. The team ensures the delivery of goods and services at the best value for Travelodge at all times. The focus is assurance & sustainability of supply, quality and service at the lowest total cost for customers (both internal and external).

As a Senior Buyer at Travelodge you’ll be a key part of our strategic category team, working closely with the Commercial Procurement Director and Head of Category to lead, implement and embed Category Management, Strategic Supplier Relationship Management & Strategic Sourcing, across designated categories of spend to:

  • Develop & lead dynamic & strong customer & business partnerships.
  • Lead several capable, sustainable, innovative and strategic commercial procurement categories.
  • Develop, implement, and lead a simpler, flexible, more agile commercial process.
  • Lead, motivate & develop our partners & suppliers driving value, quality, sustainability, and innovation.
  • Grow & lead strategic Procurement outcomes to achieve bigger, better procurement outcomes at pace.

You’ll be leading & managing the end-to-end procurement process across a broad variety of procurements from the Category strategy and plan, delivering to stretching savings targets, and enhancing our suppliers’ performance whilst mitigating risk and building trust .

What you’ll be doing:

Category Management: a leading member of the Category Team proactively developing the strategy, leading the implementation and embedding Category Management across designated categories of spend and managing the end-to-end strategic procurement process across a broad variety of procurements from the Category strategy and plan.

Stakeholder management: working with the commercial procurement director and head of category leading & building strong and proactive internal stakeholder relationships at all levels, promoting engagement, communication and innovation.

Contract management: developing, leading & implementing strong and proactive contract management methodology throughout the category contract base delivering excellence supplier performance at all levels.

Procurement process: plan and manage the strategic procurement process, lead negotiations, develop & award contracts with adherence to and management of best practice and procurement policy with all senior stakeholders and suppliers.

Performance improvement: development, innovate & lead the research of market best practices within and outside the organisation to establish benchmark data and use continuous process improvement disciplines to over deliver target savings and benefits as set out in the Category strategy.

What we’ll expect from you

Essential:

To succeed in the role, you’ll bring your desire, leadership and skills to work in a ‘developing’ procurement environment and your established experience & exemplary knowledge in a Senior Buyer role. You’ll be able to demonstrate your ability to build strong, sustainable & strategic stakeholder relationships, leading stakeholders through the procurement process whilst also challenging and influencing them when required.

In addition, you’ll need to demonstrate:

  • driving process adherence throughout the procurement cycle.
  • a strategic and tactical mindset, innovative in your approach to improving costs.
  • well organised and experienced in over-delivering stretching targets and in leading cross-functional teams to deliver complex tasks to agreed outcomes.
  • your strong & dynamic influencing and negotiation skills and excellent ability to deal with numbers.
  • your great ability to work at pace on multiple projects to challenging deadlines.
  • analytically excellent with solid skills in data research and the ability to assimilate information from multiple sources, challenging and quickly assessing validity to understand the true nature of a situation.
  • high levels of presentation and communication skills.
  • commercially excellent and financially very literate.

Desirable:

Hotel industry experience

Strong Category Planning, Contract Management and Supplier Relationship Management tools & techniques, and experience of leading & implementing strategic procurement initiatives
