Job Level: Manager

Position of Line Manager:  Head of Maintenance Support  


Overall Job Purpose


  • To manage a supervisor and teams of carpet fitters, warehouse and logistics operatives and purchasers, based in Walsall and covering the UK.

  • Management of the warehouse operations; making sure the warehouse runs in an efficient and cost-effective manner. 

  • To further develop the department through identifying opportunities to improve service and reduce costs.

  • To develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally.

  • Ensure all services and processes are fully health & safety compliant.

  • Maintain processes for all Warehouse functions.

  • Stock volumes and ordering.



Responsibilities: 


  • Strategically manage warehouse in compliance with company’s policies and vision;

  • Ensure overall operational effectiveness of all warehousing (goods inwards, stock management, order fulfilment, logistics and productivity)

  • Continually review warehouse layout and ensure efficient space management.  

  • Produce reports and statistics on all aspects of the warehouse regularly (stock reports, usage reports etc);

  • Liaise with H&S to ensure all working practices and documentation are up to date and current.

  • Full responsibility for the on-going management of a team of Warehouse and logistics operatives, carpet fitters and stock purchasers. Lead, manage and motivate them to ensure that they provide an efficient and cost-effective service through setting them achievable objectives, conducting regular reviews and identifying any training needs to support development and succession planning; 

  • Maintain Warehouse budget in conjunction with Head of Maintenance Delivery;

  • Ensure disposal of waste products in accordance with appropriate legislation. 

  • Ongoing development of internal Warehouse IT systems and processes.

  • Liaise with Maintenance teams to establish requirements and to schedule delivery and installation of agreed items.

  • Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided

  • Regular meetings with stakeholders to ensure service is delivered in-line with expectations;

  • Identify areas of improvement to increase efficiency;

Budget & Staff Management Accountabilities


1 x Warehouse Logistics Supervisor, 8 x Carpet Fitters,  7 Warehouse and Logistics operatives, 2 x purchasers.


Person Specification: Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications


Essential: 


  • Previous logistics or distribution experience.

  • Clear ability to map the task at hand to a defined process.

  • The ability to motivate and manage a team.

  • Knowledge of Job Scheduling Systems and Excel.

  • The ability to manage multiple tasks, manage and prioritise workload.

  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all stakeholders and the Warehouse team 

  • Ability to manage a budget.

  • The ability to travel

Desirable: 


  • Understanding of an operational, customer focused business.

  • Understanding of Driving Working Time Directive.

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety at Work Act.
