The Travelodge Christmas room has been designed following extensive research with 1,500 British adults to seek their views on what makes them feel Christmassy. Key findings revealed that we are a nation obsessed with Christmas as 83% of British adults reported they love Christmas.

The key item that makes adults feel Christmassy is a beautifully decorated Christmas tree according to 63% of the people interviewed. Over half of adults (58%) stated a room decorated with Christmas decorations and lights makes them feel festive. Whilst 52% of Britons reported seeing stacks of presents makes them feel like it’s Christmas.

Four out of ten Britons reported that eating mince pies makes them feel Christmassy.  Over a third (37%) of Britons said the colours red and white makes them feel festive. Whilst for a quarter (25%) of adults seeing Father Christmas gets them into the Christmas mood.

Shakila Ahmed, Travelodge Spokeswoman said: “Christmas is such a magical time, so to mark the opening of our latest hotel, York Monks Cross Travelodge, we thought it would be fun to create a ‘Wonderful Christmas’ themed room. The magical Christmassy setting within the room provides an extra element of festive cheer, for customers staying away from home during the holidays.”

“Our York Monks Cross Travelodge team are super excited about their Christmas room and can’t wait to see customer reactions. It certainly has the Ho-Ho-Ho factor”.

Travelodge asked Mum, Alicia Megan Barnard and daughter, Amira Megan Barnard to test the Christmas room. Both were overwhelmed by the magical setting of the room.

Eight year old, Amara Megan Barnard said: “Wow, This is Christmas in a room! it’s so fun and magical.”

Other findings from the research revealed that 71% of British households will decorate their homes with a Christmas tree and 40% of homes will showcase more than three trees this festive season.

The lounge is the nation’s most popular room to decorate at Christmas.  A third of Britons like to deck their hall in decorations whilst a fifth will glam up their kitchen in decorations and 17% go all festive in their bedroom.  A fifth of Britons love Christmas so much that they will decorate their whole house.

The survey also revealed that seven out of ten (70%) of adults reported that a Christmas themed room makes them feel happy.
