Travelodge acquires the Holiday Inn Express Hotel at Liverpool John Lennon Airport

Travelodge, one of the UK’s largest hotel brands, today announces it has taken a lease of the Holiday Inn Express hotel at Liverpool John Lennon Airport from Peel Land and Property Group.

The hotel now trades as Travelodge Liverpool John Lennon Airport. It has 100 rooms, a Bar Café, three meeting rooms and on-site car-parking. The hotel is situated minutes away from the airport and Speke Retail Park. It is the company’s 549th hotel and its tenth property in Merseyside.

Peel was the owner operator of the HIX under a franchise agreement and that it has granted a new 25-year lease to THL and paid a contribution to Travelodge  to convert the hotel to Travelodge’s modern brand design

This investment includes upgrading all rooms with the next generation of the company’s signature contemporary room design.  Together with the Travelodge Dreamer bed, this will include new bedside USB charging points, new softer LED ceiling lighting, giving the room a warmer feel and a Samsung 32 inch digital television.

The Bar Café will also receive a make-over. The refurbishment is expected to be completed by the end of this year and the hotel will operate as normal during these works.

Peel Land and Property  has now sold its freehold interest in the property to a private investor.

Tony O Brien, Travelodge Property Director said: “We are delighted to have secured our tenth hotel in Merseyside at the prestigious location, Liverpool John Lennon airport. The local economy is growing significantly, with increasing visitor numbers to the area, and there is a real lack of good quality accommodation at a great value price. With our new airport hotel, we are offering unbeatable value at all the key business and leisure points across the city.”
