'Grape expectations' at Copdock Hall

Sitting snugly in the rolling countryside just outside Ipswich, this recently renovated Tudor barn and vineyard, which opened in 2015, hosts weddings, corporate events, exhibitions and music performances. With its oak-beam ceiling and red brickwork, it provides a rustic backdrop for special occasions and business events. You can tour the vineyard while you're here. The standout grape is the Bacchus, a dry white similar to a sauvignon blanc.

Feed the animals at Jimmy's Farm

As seen on TV, Jimmy Doherty's rare breed pig farm is a fantastic place for families to learn about food and farming. Meet Jack the wallaby, as well as ponies, rabbits, goats, meerkats and, of course, pigs. You can feed some of them too. Be sure to sample the award-winning sausages in the restaurant or butchery - The Independent ranked them among the top 10 in the country.

Watch the world go by on Ipswich Waterfront

Ipswich's port has been running since Saxon times. These days, it's also a lively food and entertainment hub, with contemporary bars, shops and restaurants lining the waterfront. Gaze out over the yachts and motorboats bobbing up and down in the harbour. You too can enjoy a boat trip on the River Orwell. Looking for a cheap hotel Near Copdock Hall?
