Job Description

Find where you belong!

As the EUC Technical Lead you will be responsible for the technology used to deploy, manage, secure, and support the end user estate, covering c.10,000 end users across c.600 hotels, as well as all office based and field based teams.

Working with the EUC Manager and the wider EUC Team, and in close collaboration with other IT teams and key third parties, you will proactively identify opportunities to improve the service we offer and the way we deploy and manage EUC technologies on a continuous service improvement basis.

You will act as a technical thought leader and technical lead on key initiatives and projects that either deploy EUC technologies, or that will be transitioned into the EUC team for ongoing support. Further, you will provide technical expertise and leadership during Major Incidents and ongoing Problem Management, ensuring you use all available data to identify areas of improvement, influencing budget and project planning where appropriate.

What you'll be doing

  • Act as a technical and thought leader in the EUC team, identifying opportunities to improve the EUC service at all times.
  • Proactively review the use of EUC tools and technologies to ensure they remain fit-for-purpose, and proactively identify and then implement opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure all end user devices are built, configured, secured, and remain up-to-date with all security patches, anti-virus definitions, and any other proactive software updates necessary to maintain stability and security.
  • Act as the EUC technical lead in projects as appropriate, liaising with colleagues in other IT teams such as the Infrastructure team to ensure all teams are aligned on any technical decisions made.
  • Partner with the IT Information Security team to ensure any emerging threats are responded to, and to ensure we meet or exceed all key KPI’s.
  • Own and maintain EUC tools including (but not limited to) the MDM platform, VOIP platform, and the Google Meet video conferencing ecosystem. Improve the use and effectiveness of each platform on a Continuous Service Improvement basis.
  • Provide standard and approved hardware and software (operating systems and standard office applications) support and maintenance on Desktop (Hotels) Devices for their entire lifecycle (including the remote management of Desktop Devices using appropriate tools).
  • Support the IT EUC Manager during internal and external audits and compliance activities, ensuring that all EUC processes are auditable, and data is available when required.
  • Develop automated processes for capturing data related to hardware and software asset management, licensing consumption and compliance, obsolescence, and other such operational insights.
  • Undertake technical feasibility studies / solution reviews for proposed new EUC services as directed by the IT EUC Manager.
  • Proactively review data sources such as ServiceNow and work closely with the EUC Support Lead and your EUC colleagues to find solutions to repetitive incidents or any problems identified through our Incident and Problem Management processes.
  • Work with the Field Service Engineer and our outsourced EUC Break-Fix partner to ensure their work remains aligned with Travelodge EUC technical standards, and to agree common processes for activities such as building and maintaining end user devices.
  • Stay abreast of changes in the technology industry and provide feedback and guidance to ensure the Travelodge EUC service evolves over time.
  • Resolve technical problems, using a methodological & detailed approach to problem solving, acting as an escalation point for other teams when necessary.

What we'll expect from you

To succeed in this role, you will be a highly motivated self-starter, who is well organised with an excellent understanding of EUC technologies and experience of both insourced and outsourced desktop delivery / support models.

You must be a team player who is capable of both project and operational thinking, regularly rolling your sleeves up and getting your hands on, particularly in leading and supporting improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced EUC / desktop technology owner having held roles where you directly influence the way end user technology is chosen, implemented, maintained and supported.

  • At least 5 years experience as an IT EUC / Desktop / Modern Workspace engineer within a fast paced, customer centric and multi-site business.
  • Significant hands-on experience of EUC equipment and technologies including Microsoft Windows and Office, Google Workspace, Apple MacOS, iOS and iPadOS.
  • Significant experience of deployment and management tools including MDM platforms (SOTI experience an advantage), VOIP (RingCentral experience an advantage) and SCCM / MECM, with an excellent awareness of current technology trends and approaches.
  • Experience with video conferencing solutions and hardware (Google-based services an advantage)
  • Good understanding of EUC automation tools in the areas of equipment imaging / provisioning, starter / leaver processes, and desktop management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an inherent ability to effectively communicate with and influence others up to a senior level.
  • High levels of energy, drive and resilience, with the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to multitask and manage a large and varied workload and demonstrate high levels of self and team organisation.
  • Drive and determination to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
  • Minimum ITIL Foundation certified and significant experience in ITIL aligned environments.
