TRAVELODGE BETTER FUTURE REPORT
For the year end 2024
Our vision is to create a Better Future for our customers, colleagues, and the planet, underpinned by the three core pillars of our sustainability plan:
Inclusive, Caring, Conscious.
Inclusive
We are dedicated to achieving accessibility and inclusivity for our colleagues and customers.

Enhancing work-life balance through part-time management
Lynn Johnson, a Hotel Manager at Travelodge Whitstable for 14 years, was considering retirement – until the Part-time Hotel Manager initiative gave her the flexibility to stay in her role while enjoying more time with family. “It means I can keep doing the job I love without choosing between work and life,” she says. In 2025, we’ll continue supporting colleagues like Lynn by expanding career opportunities, refining pay, and enhancing flexibility.

Did you know...
Many of us will witness a cardiac arrest in our lifetime. There are more than 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests every year in the UK. most of these happen in the home, would you know what to do?
learn lifesaving CPR
Travelodge proudly support the British Heart Foundation's RevivR™, an online tool where you can learn lifesaving CPR for free in just 15 minutes. All you need is your mobile phone and a cushion to practice on. To date more than 1,000 customers have taken part.
Supporting the British Heart Foundation: Partnership with Pennies
In 2011, we became the first hotel brand to partner with Pennies, a leading UK charity dedicated to raising money via micro donations.
Thanks to the amazing generosity of our customers, we have raised over £126,000 for the British Heart Foundation in 2024, supporting CPR training, colleague health checks and awareness campaigns.

Better Me
Better Me is at the heart of our wellbeing approach. In 2024, we introduced new digital tools to enhance engagement, including 'Better Me Moments’ – opportunities for colleagues to take positive action towards their wellbeing individually or as a team.
Safeguarding Training
100% of hotel colleagues completed safeguarding training in 2024, with all safeguarding incidents resolved, demonstrating the effectiveness of our reporting systems and our zero-tolerance approach to exploitation and abuse.
Conscious
We remain actively conscious of the waste we produce, the energy and resources we consume, and our carbon emissions.
Waste Reduction
We're passionate about reducing waste, and in 2024, 97% of the waste from our refurbishment programme was diverted from landfill.

Plastic Reduction and Recycling
In 2024, we cut packaging waste by switching to bulk dispensers and plastic packaging free linen suppliers - eliminating 185 tonnes of plastic packaging per year.

water consumption
Our goal: Use less water! Our estimated water use has dropped to 111 litres per customer, down from 133 litres in 2018.

Electric Hotels
Over 120 fully electric hotels are already operating across our estate, further supporting our transition to gas-free operations. Our aim is to ensure that from 2026 onwards, all new-build hotels will operate entirely on electrically driven systems.

We're working on more sustainable hotels for the future
We've designed a blueprint all set for our future hotels, aiming to meet high environmental standards. From air to water heat pumps, solar panels, and super smart energy controls. It's all part of our plan to build sustainably and make a positive impact.
