Bessie Surtees House
Tucked away on Newcastle Quayside, this is a beautiful and unique example of 16th and 17th-century Jacobean architecture.
It’s actually three historic buildings combined and is a lovely slice of history to explore. It’s famous for the romantic (and true!) story of Bessie Surtees, who eloped from a window here!
