Greenwich Foot Tunnel
Constructed in 1902, the Greenwich Foot Tunnel runs 370 meters beneath the famous River Thames, connecting Greenwich and the Isle of Dogs.
At the time of its creation, it was considered one of the city’s most remarkable engineering feats, and many would argue it still is today. The tunnel’s cylindrical walls were once covered in bright white tiles, but they suffered quite a bit during World War II. However, the use of steel and concrete to restore this landmark ensures that locals and visitors alike can admire this hidden gem for many years to come!
