Sandwood Bay (Sutherland)
Known as one of the most remote and beautiful beaches in the UK, this stunning bay is located at the edge of Sutherland in North Scotland.
With miles of pink sands backed by tall dunes, rocky cliffs and a gorgeous loch, the views of the North Atlantic sea from this location are about as impressive as you can get. On the southern end of the beach is the impressive stone sea stack of Am Buachaille (also known as The Shepard), perfect for rock pooling and keen geologists. Sandwood Loch, located just behind the beach, is a gorgeous and serene freshwater loch surrounded by shrubbery and wildlife, making for an excellent walking experience.
Although the remote location of this beach means that nearby facilities are scarce, there is a car park about 4 miles away that takes you along a scenic walk.
