The Sheldonian Theatre
This stunning piece of architecture was designed by the famous architect Sir Christopher Wren and is a huge part of Oxford University’s ceremonial life.
Known for its distinctive circular shape, it’s used for university ceremonies and concerts. Its painted ceiling is absolutely incredible and depicts a canvas ceiling being drawn back to the heavens! You can often take a tour for a look inside and a chance to climb to the cupola for a unique, close-up view of the surrounding university buildings.
It’s a wonderful piece of history to visit and is very close to the Bodleian Library.
