Travelodge, the UK’s first budget hotel brand, has officially opened the doors to a brand new 80-room hotel in Skegness.
This is Travelodge’s 600th hotel in the UK and its first in the popular Lincolnshire seaside resort, creating more than 20 new jobs for the local community, including team members, housekeeping colleagues and management roles.
The hotel features Travelodge’s new, premium design, the hotel’s next generation rooms, and offers 12 SuperRooms, with two of these being accessible. Designed to offer even more comfort and convenience, SuperRooms offer an upgraded premium feel with added extras such as a mini fridge, Lavazza coffee machine, 43” flat-screen TV and in-room hairdryer, iron and ironing board.
Guests can unwind in the hotel’s first ever top floor 85 Bar Café, offering stunning views over Skegness and the coast – a perfect spot to relax after a day spent at the beach or exploring the town’s attractions. Additionally, on-site parking is provided.
The new 80-room Travelodge is located just 400 metres from Skegness’ Blue Flag beach and close to the lively Grand Parade. Guests can enjoy top local attractions right on their doorstep, including Skegness Pier, the Pleasure Beach, Aquarium and Natureland Seal Sanctuary, with Fantasy Island and Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve nearby for day trips.
Convenient transport links include Skegness railway station less than a mile away, local bus routes and the A52, making this hotel a well-connected base for seaside breaks or exploring the Lincolnshire coast.
Sustainability played a key role in the design of the hotel, which has achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating and holds an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of A. The hotel’s hot water is generated using air source heat pumps and it benefits from low-energy lighting, motion-sensing controls, and aerated showers and taps to reduce both energy and water usage.
Steve Bennett, Chief Property and Development Officer, Travelodge, said: “This new opening marks both our 600th hotel in the UK and our first in this popular Lincolnshire holiday resort. With its fantastic seafront location and new top floor Bar Café, we can offer a warm welcome to families, fun seekers and business travellers looking for comfortable and great value stays on the Lincolnshire coast.
“As we expand across the UK, our focus remains on offering customers more choice and great value accommodation in top leisure destinations like Skegness.”
