Travelodge Opens its Doors in London Stratford
Travelodge, the UK’s first budget hotel chain, has announced the opening of its new 151-room Travelodge London Stratford Centre, making this the Group’s 86th property in London.
The hotel has been delivered by converting a former, empty office building into a new Travelodge, refitted in accordance with the company’s latest brand standards, bringing vacant space back into productive, economic use, whilst avoiding the carbon impact associated with new construction.
The hotel has been designed to Travelodge’s latest premium look and feel, and features the brand’s popular 85 Bar Café, offering guests a relaxed space to eat, drink, work or unwind.
Ideally positioned in Stratford town centre and just a short walk from Stratford Station, the hotel offers excellent Underground, National Rail and DLR connections, placing The City of London, The West End and Dockland within direct, quick and easy reach. Westfield Stratford City, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London Stadium and the ABBA Arena are all close by, making it an ideal base for both leisure and business travellers.
Tony O’Brien, Travelodge UK Development Director, said: “London Stratford Centre is a fantastic addition to our capital portfolio. Converting an existing office building into a modern hotel is a highly sustainable way to grow, whilst also delivering high-quality, great-value accommodation in a prime, well-connected location. From the developer’s perspective, the new lease to Travelodge has turned what was a vacant office building and financial liability into a great quality financial asset, secured under a long-term lease agreement. Stratford continues to see strong demand, and we’re delighted to open our doors here.”
Travelodge now operates over 600 hotels throughout the UK, with a requirement to open more than 300 additional locations.
