Caerphilly Castle is the largest in Wales, and the fortress is certainly an impressive sight. With parts dating back to the 13th century, it's in remarkably good condition today and has even been used in many films and TV series, including Doctor Who and Merlin. Nearby you'll also find the more modern Castell Coch which was constructed in Victorian times.

The Welsh capital is just a 30 minute drive from Nelson and offers great shopping, world-class museums and lively nightlife.
