Stroll Chester's history

University of Chester is just a ten minute brisk stroll from the heart of the city of Chester. Spanning almost two thousand years of history, it's one of England's best preserved ancient forts. Originally a Roman fort, Chester's four main streets and imposing city walls are perfect for a relaxing stroll. Fast forward to the Tudor period, and the Rows offers one of the most gorgeous shopping destinations in England: a perfectly preserved timber-clad facade with an elevated walkway lined with shops and cafes.

Family fun at Chester Zoo

Jump on the number 1 bus from Near University of Chester, and you can be at England's most-visited wildlife attraction in less than half an hour. Voted Britain's best zoo in July 2015 by TripAdvisor, Chester Zoo boasts 15,000 animals and 125 acres of zoological gardens. Don't miss the lions, tigers and elephants - or the cheeky meerkats. The brand new Madagascar PLAY! space opened in May 2017, offering younger visitors a fun-filled tree-top climbing adventure.

Live it up in Liverpool

Less than an hour on the train brings you from Chester to Liverpool, packed with history, heritage and some of England's best nightlife. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site at the Albert Dock, to breathe in Liverpool's maritime history. Head in Liverpool One for an array of food options, before hitting the renowned Baltic Triangle area for the city's coolest nightlife.
