Surfing and music at Boardmasters Festival

Boardmasters Festival in Newquay, Cornwall, is a summer-time extravaganza of music and surfing taking place on two sites over four days in August. Most of the music happens on the Watergate Bay site with previous line-ups featuring the likes of Ed Sheeran, Basement Jaxx, Dizzee Rascal, Fatboy Slim and Calvin Harris. Boardmasters is also a professional surf, skateboarding and BMX competition centred around Fistral Beach, with live music, great shopping and art installations plus food and drink.

Surf's Up! Take to the waves in Newquay

The stretch of north Cornwall's coastline around Newquay is famous for surfing and you can have a go yourself at one of several surf schools. Or try your hand at another water sport such as kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding. If the water's not your thing head to Newquay Zoo to get up close and personal with more than 1,000 animals including endangered species such as pangolins and sloths. Exploring north Cornwall

There's so much to explore in Cornwall, but you can make a start by making your way north to the beautiful Trevose Head, a lovely spot for walking and running which is now managed by the National Trust.
