World War history at Hornchurch

This suburban London town close to busy Romford is shrouded in World War One history. It was the site of the Hornchurch Airfield, known as Sutton's Farm, an important RAF station in the early 1900s. Today, the airfield lends its land to Hornchurch Country Park, a peaceful park with a dedicated wildlife centre and a fishing lake. It's the ideal place for an afternoon stroll after a spot of lunch at the park's cafe.
